Reason for nomination
Penn National Insurance is a carrier that sells its products exclusively through independent agents. With that, Penn National Insurance needs to provide systems and services that support the philosophy of “Easy to Do Business With” and attracts new agents or agencies.
As part of that mandate the IT Division was tasked with improving Penn National Insurance’s position as a company that is easy to do business with while also continuing to improve internal operation efficiency and effectiveness.
IT employees get to work on important, highly visible projects with large business impacts. The IT Division encourages its staffers to think outside the box, and individuals are encouraged to "stretch" their jobs so they can develop new skills.
The project outlined in the attached document utilized existing technology to improve service and business processes.
